A struggling Melbourne Renegades team will lock horns against Adelaide Strikers on Tuesday in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2020. Adelaide Oval will host the Match 29 of the tournament. These two teams are desperate for a win to prove themselves in the competition.
The Melbourne Renegades are currently lagging at the bottom of the points table. They have lost six games in a row. The Melbourne side has faced some heavy defeats regularly in this season and they faced the same thing when they locked horns against the Perth Scorchers in their last match. The Scorchers crushed the Melbourne side and defeated them by 96 runs.
Melbourne Renegades had to chase a target of 186 runs and they were bowled out for 89 runs. Only Shaun Marsh and Jack Prestwidge could score runs in double digits. This heavy defeat also affected the Net Run Rate of the Renegades. This was their third defeat in the season by a margin of 95 runs or more. The Melbourne side needs a miracle to mount a strong comeback. In the coming matches, their batting is expected to suffer more as Shaun Marsh will not be available in the next few matches, as he will stay back for the birth of his third child. Rilee Rossouw could also sit out of the team after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Adelaide Strikers dominantly started their season. However, they have suffered a recent slump in form. They have now lost two consecutive games and are placed at the fifth position in the points table with 13 points after seven games. The side does not have any flaw only that their bowling has suffered in the last few games. The Adelaide bowlers have scalped only six wickets in the last two games and hence the opposition has chased down modest scores. The opening batsmen Jake Weatherlad and Philip Salt are also suffering from lack of form. Captain Alex Carey has to take on huge responsibilities in the middle order.
Fast bowler Peter Siddle has also blown cold after a good start in the tournament. The Adelaide Strikers needs to buckle up if they want to finish in the top four in the points table. Both these teams will face each other in back-to-back clashes in the upcoming days and two wins can be a handful for each team.
The Melbourne Renegades and the Adelaide Strikers have faced each other 12 times. The Renegades have won 4 times and the Strikers have won 8 times.
The Renegades are currently in a poor run of form. So, it is expected that the Adelaide Strikers will win this match. The Strikers have also played in this venue twice.
