Chennai Super Kings:
After having their worst IPL season in 2020, Chennai Super Kings were expected to make some major changes in the 2021 auctions. Despite that, to everyone’s surprise, they not only retained most of the squad but even refrained from bringing in some young exciting cricketer. Pundits have already expressed the popular opinion that playoffs are still not a likely possibility for MS Dhoni’s men. The yellow brigade will have a steep climb this season. The team combination is expected to remain more or less the same with Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa and Krishnappa Gowtham stepping in the playing 11. Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, Lungi Ngidi and Sam Curran are expected to be Dhoni’s overseas choices ahead of their first game. They will be expected to play a good IPL match.

Ever since Ricky Ponting has become a part of the Capitals’ think tank, the team has continuously improved, coming out with better results every season. The 2020 finalists will be missing the services of their regular skipper – Shreyas Iyer, but that means, the likes of Rishabh Pant- the newly appointed skipper – Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, and Ravichandran Ashwin will have to play a much bigger role to keep the team going. With Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje expected to miss the opening game and Axar Patel also out with COVID-19, Pant might be tempted to try what Chris Woakes brings to the side. Steve Smith will be another player standing under the spotlight. Delhi would want to play Smith, Hetmyer, Chris Woakes, and Marcus Stoinis as their overseas players. Umesh and Ishant Sharma will be seen leading their pace department.
