Delhi Capitals will face off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 22nd match of the Indian Premier League. Both teams have been playing good cricket so far in the current campaign. They will want to continue to do so, as they look to win the first Indian Premier League title.
Delhi Capitals have mastered the art of chasing. The batting line-up with an extra batsman looks organized and with clever rotation, the bowling looks to do well too. Pant will want to make a statement on Tuesday by defeating RCB – the strongest performers in 2021 so far. It should be a high-scoring cricket match between two in-form sides.
Their formula remains the same, get Dhawan and Shaw fire at the top. One of them then anchors the innings while the other partners take the opponent’s bowling apart. Axar Patel being available adds some flavor to the mix.
Delhi Capitals squad: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (captain and wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Chris Woakes, R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Lalit Yadav, Pravin Dubey, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan, Steve Smith, Umesh Yadav, Ripal Patel, Vishnu Vinod, Lukman Meriwala, M Siddarth, Tom Curran, Sam Billings
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Royal Challengers Bangalore will face a stern test as they play Rishabh Pant’s Delhi at Ahmedabad. The team is cruising at the top of the points table and with a batting track at hand, Kohli would fancy their star-studded lineup to fire. One major factor in RCB’s success seems to be the form of Glenn Maxwell. As Sunil Gavaskar said, the Aussie and AB de Villiers make two 360-degree batsmen and that is a nightmare for bowlers.
Another major factor is Harshal Patel. The Indian medium-pacer seems to be Bangalore’s solution for their death over woes. Patel has executed seamless variations in the tournament and his role versus Delhi will be to get wickets.
Royal Challengers Bangalore squad: Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Navdeep Saini, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, Shahbaz Ahmed, Finn Allen, Pavan Deshpande, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Devdutt Padikkal, S. Bharat, Suyash Prabhudessai, Daniel Christian, Kyle Jamieson, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Rajat Patidar, Sachin Baby, Glenn Maxwell
Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore have faced each other 25 times in the IPL. Delhi have won 10 matches while Bangalore has won on 14 occasions.
While Royal Challengers Bangalore is the informed team, Delhi looks like a side that can break Kohli’s glorious run. Pant, Hetmyer, Dhawan, Rabada, Avesh Khan, Stoinis, Ashwin, Woakes have the capability of getting rid of the three pillars of RCB – Kohli, Maxwell, De Villiers and then attack the bowling all through.
