Islamabad United will face off against the Quetta Gladiators in the 12th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021. Two teams that have had an average start (based on the league table) will go head-to-head against each other. Despite that, the fans will be expecting some positive cricket from this match.
Islamabad United won two successive live cricket matches and then lost the third match of their league campaign. The pitch had a major change in that match and it was a low scoring encounter. The batting line up of Islamabad almost suffered a collapse after putting up an impressive performance in the last two matches. Alex Hales was the lone batsmen who stood out for Islamabad. He managed to score 41 runs off 27 deliveries which included five boundaries and a six. Hussain Talat and Asif Ali also managed to score some runs. However, no other batsman could manage to score a decent amount of runs.
Eight of the Islamabad United batsmen failed to even enter double-digit runs. United does not have a strong bowling line up as compared to the other teams and it was evident from their previous matches. Hasan Ali is the leader of the pack, but he failed to pick up any wicket in the last match. Mohammad Wasim Jr contributed with the ball in the previous matches but failed to show up in the last match. Fawad Ahmed proved to be expensive, but he picked p wickets in the middle overs which is a good sign. Captain Shadab Khan has not been contributing with both bat and ball.
Quetta Gladiators have lost all their first three matches this season. Hence, they are reeling at the bottom of the points table. They have put up a good performance in all their matches, but have failed to get past the winning line. The batting line up of the team was strong even in the absence of Chris Gayle. Faf du Plessis inclusion has strengthened the batting order. The captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed is back among the runs. Azam Khan has shown his power-hitting skills in the previous matches and he even smashed the third-highest six of the history of PSL T20 in the last match against Zalmi. Cameron Delport, Ben Cutting, and Mohammad Nawaz can also chip in with the runs in the last few overs. However, bowling remains their main issue, which has been the cause of their defeat in the three matches they have played so far. The bowlers have ruined the efforts of the batsmen. They could have easily won their last match but gave away 41 runs in the last three overs. Mohammad Hasnain is their only bowler who has performed in all three matches. Usman Shinwari has flopped in all three matches. He gave away almost 50 runs in four overs. Mohammad Nawaz, Zahid Mahmood, and Ben Cutting have to step up.
