Wimbledon champion Andy Murray decided to withdraw his game in Rogers Cup Toronto as he wants to have some time to rest before the 2016 Olympics starts.
The Scottish star was the winner of the said tournament last year that was held in Montreal. He had won the said trophy three times now and this might be the right time to take some break and focus more on a much bigger event.
He also added that he needed to have some rest for a while in order to be fully prepared for the most awaited Rio 2016 event. Murray was currently in the second spot of world ranking according to the statement that was release by Tennis Canada.
Although he won’t participate in the said event the British number one will be back by next year and will try to bag away the title. This will be the first time that he will skip the Canadian event since his debut in 2006, and at the same time won’t depend his title.
The Canadian tournament will run from July 23 to 31, while the tennis competition in Rio will take place on August 6-14.
