Do you know which has been the most exciting recent cricket series – both for watching and for cricket betting? It is not New Zealand’s tour of India, even though the ODI series suddenly came to life after the fourth match. Neither is it Pakistan’s ‘home’ series against West Indies in the UAE. Even Australia’s ODI tour of South Africa does not come close. It is England’s tour of Bangladesh. The three ODIs were close and hard fought. The test series is following the same pattern. England won the ODI series 2-1. And they are leading the two-test series 1-0.
The second and final test begins at Dhaka tomorrow, amidst threat of cyclone and rain. Bangladesh narrowly lost (by just 22 runs) the first test in a thrilling roller-coaster encounter. They badly need a win to raise their morale. The pitch at Dhaka is likely to be a dust bowl. But England are well-equipped to handle such challenges.
Preview – England
Stuart Broad, who bowled non-stop towards the end of the play in fourth and fifth days of the previous test, will be given rest. Steven Finn is likely to replace him. England are likely to offer test cap to rookie left-arm-spin-bowling all-rounder Zafar Ansari. He is untested but offers great promise. England have a long batting line-up and sufficient resources in the bowling department. Their top order needs to post big scores against the army of Bangladesh spinners.
Preview – Bangladesh
Bangladesh came agonizingly close to what could have been a well-cherished test win. However, they failed to cross the line. Still, they can draw a number of positives from the match. Sabbir Rahman’s batting under pressure in the second innings was exceptional. Debutant Mehedi Hasan Miraz bowled with skill and heart in both the innings. Old war horses Tamil Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan chipped in with useful contributions. They were done in by inexperience and bad luck in the first test. They will want nothing short of a win in the second and final test. As for cricket betting, one has to keep in mind that thoughtless attacking intent have led to poor defeats many times in the past.
This has been a hard to predict series. You must also keep in mind the threat of rain when involving in cricket betting. If the match is washed out, the series goes to England
