The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is getting intense with every passing day as teams are looking to put their best foot forward. There is hardly any time left for experiments as a slip up here may cost a particular team later as the tournament progresses.
We bring you nonstop T20 cricket action from the CPLT20 as two time champions Barbados Tridents are set to face St Lucia Jouks.
The Tridents are currently in the third position with four points from five matches and before facing the Zouks on Sunday they will go up against the Trinbago Knight Riders on Saturday.
Our latest CPL T20 Match Preview: St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Jamaica Tallawahs
The two-time champions have a solid squad to challenge for the title this season. However, they have not performed well with the bat, apart from Kevin Mayers others have struggled to find the boundaries regularly and have also failed to stitch partnerships in the middle. Players like Shai Hope, Jason Holder and Corey Anderson needs to step up to the occasion before its too late.
St Lucia Zouks
The Zouks defeated the Patriots on Thursday and are in a great position having won four out their first six matches. They are currently second in the points table only behind the Knight Riders. In their last game against the Patriots, they won the toss and fielded first and Mohammad Nabi came up with a sensational spell of spin bowling taking a 5-wicket haul dismantling the opposition batters. The Patriots somehow managed to post a paltry 110/9 as the Zouks finished it off within 14.4 overs.
The Zouks have very deep squad filled with variety on both fronts, batting and bowling. They will look to continue the same way against the Tridents.
Head to head
Both the sides faced each other earlier in the season as the Zouks defeated the tridents convincingly in a match plagued by rain. The Tridents posted 137 for the Zouks to chase down but rain spoiled the party. However, play resumed and the Zouks scored the shorten target of 50 runs within 4.1 overs out of the allotted five overs.
After adding up this season’s match both the sides have played against each other in 16 matches where the Tridents hold a dominating advantage with 10 wins. However, the form is with the Zouks so it will be a very interesting matchup.
St. Lucia Zouks win
