Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals by 8 runs to get 3rd successive win

Chennai Super Kings recorded their third match of the season by eight runs to defeat Rajasthan Royals in the 12th match of the 2019 Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

The reigning champions grabbed a competitive 175/5 (20) triumph as MS Dhoni paced his inning beautifully, scoring unbeaten 75 off 46 balls, to guide his team to a much-needed comeback win.

Dhoni used his vast experience to read the conditions and mostly worked the ball around to keep the scoreboard ticking. Whenever he got the chance, he opened his arms and hit four fours and as many sixes.

Meanwhile, the Royal didn’t play the way they wanted. In fact, prior to the match, Rajasthan Royals led by captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and decided to field first but they only managed 167/8 (20).

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer took the chase deep with their fiery 44-run stand, however Dwayne Bravo bowled a brilliant last over, defending 12 runs that Royals needed to score to claim the victory.

As of now, CSK continue their unbeaten run with three wins out of three matches. On the contrary, the Royals suffered a third straight defeat in the IPL.

Moving forward, Rajasthan will now host Royal Challengers Bangalore tomorrow, April 2, at 10:30 PM (GMT +8) CSK is up to face Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, April 3.
