The second ODI between Sri Lanka and India, a day-night affair, will be held at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy tomorrow. If you have seen the first ODI, you must not have any doubts about the outcome of this match. India simply toyed with Sri Lanka. The gulf in class between the teams resembled the difference in geographical size of the respective countries. India looked all-encompassing and difficult to tame, while Sri Lanka looked tiny and vulnerable.
Some Sri Lankan fans even blocked the team bus to express their protest against the recent poor performance of the team. It could only add more pressure to the already diffident Sri Lankan team. So, it is safe to side with India in cricket betting. But as commentators used to say on television, anything can happen on a cricket field.
Sri Lanka – Preview
It looks like the present Sri Lankan team is incapable of challenging the Indians. In the first ODI, Sri Lankan batsmen made a bright start, but then lost their way. None of the Lankan batsmen could play a long, dominant innings. Niroshan Dickwella and Kusal Mendis looked good for a brief while. But once the ball got old and Indian spinners found their line, length and flight, the Lankan batsmen had no answer.
In bowling, Lasith Malinga appeared the most potent bowler. That in itself reveals the sorry state of Sri Lanka’s bowling stock. Unless some individual players come up with the performances of their life, Sri Lanka have no chance of beating India.
India – Preview
India are playing cricket as a well-oiled machine – like Germany playing football. They have no sympathy or lethargy towards any weakness in the opposition ranks. They ruthlessly crush weak oppositions. India at the moment seem to have everything: fearless batsmen, handy all-rounders, crafty bowlers and excellent fielders. The combination of all these features seems to be too good for Sri Lanka. India are all set to sweep the ODI series too.
