ICC Champions Trophy Day 2: Cricket Betting Preview

Australia meet their traditional rivals New Zealand in the faraway Birmingham in the second match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The group also has England and Bangladesh. The team that loses this match will have to win both their remaining matches. A win is essential to breathe easy amidst the competition. This will be a battle of swing bowlers. Australia have enviable riches in that count: Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and the fit again James Pattinson. They may not be able to fit all these pacemen into a single eleven.

New Zealand are not too far behind in fast bowling stakes. In Tim Southee and Trent Boult, they have two bowlers who can exploit the English conditions. Mitchell McClenaghan too can be handy, judging by his IPL form. You can pick your cricket betting odds, based on your trust on these fast bowlers.

Preview – Australia

Australia do not have any obvious weakness. Their batting has class and firepower. Steven Smith, David Warner, Chris Lynn, Glen Maxwell and Aaron Finch can destroy bowling attacks. In Moises Henriques and Marcus Stoinis, they have reliable allrounders too. Spin department is their only weak link: Their spinning option is limited to Adam Zampa. Australia will be hard to beat in the English conditions. They will start favourite for cricket betting in most of the matches.

Preview – New Zealand

New Zealand will be the underdogs. They need the best batting efforts from Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill and the best bowling effort from Southee and Boult. New Zealand’s real strength is their all-rounders: swing-bowling all-rounders like Corey Anderson, Colin de Grandhomme and James Neesham, and spinner all-rounder Mitchell Sauntner. It gives plenty of bowling options and makes the batting line-up really long.

Our Prediction: Australia have the edge, but New Zealand will fight hard. Australia are likely to come out victorious (Check Match Odds)
