Quetta Gladiators fought their way to finally bag the 2019 Pakistan Super League (PSL) Twenty20 title against 2017 champions Peshawar Zalmi with a remarkable eight-wicket victory in the final at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan.
The occasion marks the Gladiators’ first victory after having reached the final in the two previous tournaments. In addition, the new champions were able to won the toss and decided to field first over their opponent in front of the 32, 000 fans supporting their respective teams.
Following their overall performance, the Gladiators finished 140/2 in their 18 overs while the former champ ended the match at 138-8 in their 20 overs.
The tournament was the largest cricket activity in Pakistan for 10 years after a terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka team bus prevented foreign teams from visiting.
“I thank the crowd for coming in big numbers. People have sent a clear message that Pakistan love cricket and it is safe for cricket.” Quetta and Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed stated
The Player of the Match was given to Mohammad Hasnain following his figures of 3-30 in four overs. The Player of the Series as well as Batsman of the Series was awarded to Shane Watson of the Gladiators.
Meanwhile, the Bowler of the Series award went to Hasan Ali of Peshawar Zalmi.
