Bangladesh will be going up against South Africa in the 1st T20 of the 2-match series starting tomorrow at the Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein. Bangladesh attempt to reclaim some pride in the upcoming T20s after losing all the matches of the Test and ODI series’ by significant margins. After how the tour has proceeded, a victory seems like a herculean task for the team. The home side however, have batted impressively in all their innings’ so far, from chasing 280 odd without losing a single wicket to De Villiers’ brilliant 176, and the 369 in the third ODI to all the other centuries scored in the Test series by their batsmen. South Africa will be looking forward for nothing short of a victory tomorrow and clinch the series.
South Africa- Preview
Injured South Africa captain Faf du Plessis will not be playing for next six weeks after suffering an acute lumbar disc injury in the third ODI against Bangladesh on Sunday. In his absence, JP Duminy will lead the T20 side, which also includes AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla. Phangiso, Pretorius Patterson, Shamsi and Phehlukwayo form a lethal bowling attack, albeit slightly inexperienced. Hendricks is in contention for a place in the team too. Despite the depleted team, South Africa still appear to be miles ahead of their opponents.
Things have gone worse for Bangladesh as Cricbuzz has reported that three of their players will be investigated for a casino visit once they return home from the tour. This cannot be a pleasant experience for the triplet ,who have two games ahead of them. Shakib Al Hasan, the star player of the team had scored a respectable score (63) in the last match. He, along with Mushfiqur Rahim are the only two batsmen one can expect anything from, tomorrow. In the bowling department, Rubel Hossain shined by taking five wickets in the ODI series, a respectable tally considering the team as a whole only took 12 wickets in three games. Meanwhile, the selectors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board have called-up the fast bowling duo of Shafiul Islam and Rubel Hossain along with keeper-bat Liton Das and all-rounder Nasir Hossain to the team.
