The second ODI of the five-match series between England and Pakistan starts at the Lord’s tomorrow. England have won the rain-affected first ODI at Southampton by 44 runs in the Duckworth-Lewis method. Pakistan have good memories at the Lord’s after their recent test-match win. They will hope their good luck charm at the ground will continue. As for cricket betting, England will start the favourites again, following their powerful batting performance in the first ODI. But trust Pakistan for comebacks. This side shows character and tenacity when faced with tough situations.
England – Preview
England’s top order comprising Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler looks tailor-made for the format and the conditions. They have a few handy all-rounders too in their ranks: Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes and Chris Jordan. Bowlers like Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid are no rabbits with the bat either. They are a really good bowling side, possessing good fast bowlers and decent spinners. Overall, they look the dominant side in the series.
Pakistan – Preview
Pakistan batted well in the first ODI. But they failed to maintain a brisk run rate. Skipper Azhar Ali, Babar Azam and Sarfraz Ahmed all had a good stint with the bat. But all of them scored less than a run a ball. They need a hard-hitter at the top of the innings or at the end of the innings. If Sharjeel Khan can find his form, most of the Pakistan’s batting problems will be solved. Their bowling went haywire in the first ODI, as Jason Roy started smashing them around. A similar fate awaits them at Lord’s.
It is hard to see Pakistan upstaging England. But Pakistan has a knack of springing up surprises. If one or two of their batsmen or bowlers get going, it is really hard to stop them. That kind of playing can become irksome for cricket betting. But if you look for early signs of such occurrences, it can lead to profitable online betting too.
