England vs Pakistan third ODI: cricket betting preview

Pakistan must wake up before the third ODI international against England at Nottingham tomorrow. The visitors are trailing the five-match series 2-0. If they lose this match, the series will be gone. The next two matches of the tour will be relegated to the status of dead rubber. The odds are heavily against Pakistan. The good news for cricket betting community is that Pakistan are at their best when they are pushed into a corner, and they have to win to escape from there. The situation demands a match-winning performance from one of its players.

Preview – England

England will want to repeat the process that fetched them wins in the first two ODIs. Bowl first and restrict Pakistan to a reasonable total. England have a long batting line-up, with Liam Plunkett coming in at number 10. Had he been playing for Pakistan, he would have come in at number 6 or 7. The bowling too looks in good shape. Chris Woakes is continuing his form from the tests, while Mark Wood and Plunkett are sharp and disciplined. The other 20 overs to be bowled by the spinners will be a bit of a concern for skipper Eoin Morgan.

Preview – Pakistan

It’s now or never for Azhar Ali and his men. The best option in the prevailing circumstances for them would be to bowl first and restrict England to a gettable target. It is not going to be an easy task as England’s explosive batsmen can run away with the match. The bowling looks the strong suite of Pakistan. If they manage to restrict England to a score below 250, it will be within the reach of their batsmen. Only wicket keeper Sarfraz Ahmed has been consistent with the bat so far. A big innings from Sharjeel Khan is due and will be greeted by Pakistan, as in the case of the rain after a long summer.

Vital stats

England and Pakistan have played six matches at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, winning three matches each. Curiously, no team has won two matches in a row. England won the last match. If the trend continues, this is Pakistan’s turn. But you cannot count just on that trend, as the last match between the two at this ground was played about 10 years ago.

England are in a good position to clinch the series here. But if Pakistan are going to bounce back on the series, it has to be on this match. For cricket betting, watch out on the team that bats second.
