France International Benjamin Mendy have become the world’s most expensive defender after he completed his transfer from AS Monaco FC to Manchester City.
City have confirmed and announced the signing of Mendy on a six year deal with the club worth £52 million, a world record for a defender.
The 23-year-old defender is the third full-back to join the club this summer following the signings of Kyle Walker and Danilo.
“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester City. They are one of Europe’s leading Clubs and in Pep Guardiola they have a manager committed to playing attacking football. I am sure that over the next few years we will be successful.” Mendy said
Meanwhile, City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain believes that Mendy has all the qualities that they are looking in a full-back position and pleased to have the French defender at Manchester City.
