Lionel Messi Captures Fourth European Golden Shoe


The 29-year-old Argentinian Lionel Messi won the European Golden Shoe for the fourth time after having scored 37 goals this season in the Spanish League to tie the award of Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi stands on 74 points for the Golden Shoe table beating Bas Dost of Sporting Lisbon by six points with a total of 68 in the second place with 34 Portugues Primeira Liga goals.

Moreover, Pierre-Emerick Aubmeyang of Borussia Dortmund was third on the table with 31 goals in the Bundesliga.

Messi previously won the award in year 2010, 1012 and 2013 where each goal is equivalent to two points in the table. He also scored twice against Eibar to seal the league season with a win.
