Table leaders Manchester City continued their outstanding performance in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
City has now 31 points with 10 wins, including one draw and boss Pep Guardiola cannot hide his happiness after his men outclassed Arsene Wenger’s squad that gave them an eight point tournament lead.
“We cannot deny the last two months have been amazing. We knew how important this game was and we prepared well. The players gave an amazing performance. We won because we were better” Guardiola stated
In the first half of the match, Kevin De Bruyne netted the opener in the 19th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead going into the halftime.
Meanwhile, Sergio Aguero made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 50th minute of the game that put City in command after Raheem Sterling was shoved in the box by Nacho Monreal.
For Arsenal, substitute Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back to close the gap but Gabriel Jesus sealed the win from close range in the 74th minute to complete the 3-1 triumph.
The result means Man City is now unbeaten in 23 games in all competitions.
