Manchester City has announced that their world’s most expensive defender Benjamin Mendy raptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The test results were confirmed by the specialist doctor in Barcelona and Mendy could possibly miss the rest of the season with his club.
The 23-year-old left-back and former AS Monaco will have a knee surgery this week in Barcelona.
“Manchester City FC can confirm that Benjamin Mendy has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Benjamin will undergo surgery tomorrow in Barcelona, and everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery.” According to Manchester City’s official website
The France international sustained the injury during the first half of the 5-0 Premier League victory against Crystal Palace last Saturday, September 23 at Etihad Stadium.
Meanwhile, Mendy also shared the bad news on his official Twitter account.
“Bad news guys I will be joining Injury FC on loan for a couple monthes with ruptured ACL… but will be back soon & stronger hopefully.”
Mendy is scheduled to see Dr. Ramon Cugat, a close friend of the Citezen’s boss Pep Guardiola who treated City duo Vincent Kompany and Kevin de Bruyne last season, in Spain.
