England’s came from behind win over Slovakia put them closer towards qualification for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
Thanks to Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford who scored the game winner for England’s 2-1 victory over Slovakia at Wembley Stadium.
The comeback victory by England guarantees that the Three Lions will finish at the top of qualifying Group F.
“I think it was an important goal today. We started a bit slow as a team and me on a personal note, but we got it together. I think you’ve just got to get back to basics and do what you’ve been taught and what you’ve been working on all week. I think it’s just working your way into the game. It’s important that you start fast and if you don’t you pay for it.” Rashford said
Meanwhile, Slovakia needed just three minutes to find the net after Stanislav Lobotka made a goal from Rashford’s mistake that caused England to concede their fastest goal.
However, England managed to equalize the game when Eric Dier scored a goal in the 37th minute of the first half before Rashford redeemed himself in the 59th minute to complete the 2-1 victory in their World Cup qualifier.
Right now, England has two matches remaining and they can confirm their place in Russia if they can win in next qualifier on October 5 against Slovenia.
