Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that Mesut Ozil will be certainly out against Huddersfield at the Emirates Stadium after he was ruled out with an illness in 1-0 victory at Burnley.
Base on the statement, Wenger said that the doctor went to him and said that Ozil needs to travel back to London.
In addition, Wenger stated that he can’t determine the illness of Ozil because he was not able to speak directly to the 29-year-old midfielder, who had trained normal with the team ahead of the game that forced Ainsley Maitland-Niles as a last minute addition to the bench.
“I haven’t even seen him. The doctor came to see me and said he had to travel back home, he was in the hotel with us. He travelled up with us, and then travelled back. We brought Maitland-Niles up who arrived at 1pm because we had only 17 players. Will he be available for Wednesday? Certainly he will be short. We will see what it is exactly.” Wenger confirmed
In the game against Burnley, Alex Iwobi was the one who replaced Ozil in the starting lineup and was changed by Jack Wilshere as a substitute where Alexis Sanchez notched the win from the penalty spot.
Meanwhile, Wilshere will have the chance to have his first Premier League start of the season when Arsenal welcomes Huddersfield at home on Thursday, November 30 (GMT +8).
