The season has just started but Mike Phelan believes that Jose Mourinho has built Manchester United as a team highly capable of winning first Premier League title since Alex Ferguson’s reign.
Phelan, who was then Ferguson’s assistant witnessed how United lifted their 20th title back in 2013. But the succeeding years, the Reds devils have failed to snatch the English Premier League silverware.
Given this, the former United assistant claims that the club’s drought might be coming to an end soon following a good season start with three wins in a row and scoring 10 goals without conceding.
“It’s been a very good start. I think the fixture list has been kind in a way, but the preparation has been good and that’s showing in the results they’ve got.”
The English coach also noted that the club has bought well last summer. Players look physically stronger and mentally more prepared as they face battles and progress even more this season.
“It’s a squad that has definitely got credentials now. The Premier League is a difficult league to win and there a lot of other clubs who have invested heavily. I think they have given themselves a real opportunity to be successful.”
