Brazilian football superstar Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, commonly known as Neymar, is set to complete a €222 million world record deal to Paris Saint-Germain from FC Barcelona.
In the statement that was released by Barcelona, the club confirmed that Neymar had expressed the desire to leave the team.
In addition, Barcelona clarified that Paris Saint-Germain must pay €222 million buy-out clause in full amount.
“The player Neymar Jr, accompanied by his father and agent, has informed FC Barcelona this morning of his decision to leave the Club in a meeting held at the Club’s offices. Faced with this position, the Club has informed them they refer to the buy-out clause of his existing contract which as of 1 July totals 222 million euros which will have to be deposited in its entirety.”
Going back, Neymar was given the permission to stay away from preseason training by Barca Manager Ernesto Valverde to decide his future even he remains under contract with the club.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian international’s representative Wagner Ribeiro has confirmed that PSG is willing to pay Neymar’s release clause and expects a deal to be finalized this week to complete the move.
If the deal will be completed, it would make Neymar the world’s most expensive transfer in history.
He is now in Paris, France to accomplish and finalize his world-record transfer to Unai Emery’s side that tied him to the Catalan club for five-year deal through 2021.
