Defender Marlon Santos accepted a three-year deal with Barcelona and has been the first player to sign up in the club this summer.
The former on loan from Fluminense made an impressive performance in Barca’s campaign last season although he spent most of his time with the B team.
Santos has also previously made his debut as a second half substitute in the Champions League win over Celtic in Glasgow.
Given the new opportunity, the 21-year-old is expected to be part of the first team’s preseason tour of the United States under supervision of new coach, Ernesto Valverde..
Neither of the club revealed the value of the Brazilian national in the football market, although reports have estimated it to be somewhere around €6 million.
Barca on the other hand confirmed a €2 million worth payment for the young star. This is due to the fact that they have paid Flu €4 million to have the first option on Gerson (€3.2m), Kenedy (€400,000) and Marlon (€400,000). Gerson and Kenedy officially signed for Roma and Chelsea respectively.
