It seems that Sergio Romero has built a good relationship with David de Gea as he doesn’t want his fellow goal keeper to leave Manchester United.
Romero expressed why he doesn’t want David to leave the team. It is because the Argentinian believed that he will be help by his “friend” to be a better goal keeper.
“Since I came to this team, I said I need to compete with David because in that way we can keep the competition level high. I don’t want him to leave. We are friends. And if he stays here, it will help me to be better.” Romero told ESPN FC
Right now, De Gea is being linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer and the club is ready to pay up to £50 million for the former Atletico player.
Few days ago, Romero just signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2021 with an option to extend for another year.
Last season in the Europa League, Romero got a taste of first team action even though he is just a second choice under Jose Mourinho.
For the 30-year-old keeper, he knew that he can be useful and help the team in different levels.
“Last season was great. It was spectacular the way we finished. But I think this is just a kickoff on my part because I want to prove that I belong to this team and I can do great things for this organisation.” Romero added
