St. Etienne’s campaign against Nice is far from exemplary. But the team’s minimal 1-0 win is what mattered as they managed to create a promising season start.
The home team took the lead when Jonathan Bamba powered home in as early as four minutes after kick off. Nice tried to level score but there were very few scoring chances for them and for the hosts. Given this, the game unappealingly continued where neither side picked up any goal. Nevertheless, the Greens relatively posed as the dominant team by displaying better performance.
The victory was a first for the new manager Oscar Garcia and coming off from a good match, the Greens have a ton of positivity as they later battle out with Caen and Amiens.
Despite the narrow win, Bamba’s encouraging performance also signified for a positive season ahead who shall be playing along with record signing Lois Diony and Robert Beric under the supervision of Oscar Garcia Junyent.
“Jonathan Bamba is a very good player. He does what the coach asks and I am very pleased with him,” said the Spanish coach.
Meanwhile, St. Etienne are set to face Caen at Stade Michel d’Ornano in an away encounter this weekend (check out the best betting odds on 12BET).
