Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez has joined Tottenham Hotspur F.C. in a reported club record deal worth £42 million.
Tottenham announced that Sanchez signed a six-year deal until 2023.
“We are delighted to announce that Davinson Sánchez has completed his move to the club, subject to receipt of his work permit later this week.” A statement stated on the club’s website
The 21-year-old Colombia centre-back becomes the second signing of the club after goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton joined until 2022.
In addition, Sanchez is the most expensive signing in Hotspur’s history, breaking the £30m record set by Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko in 2016.
Meanwhile, the defender thanked the Ajax fans and organization for the opportunity and expressed his excitement to his new club.
“I would like to thank the coach, management, players and fans of Ajax. It is a great move for me to come here to develop my career. I am very excited to be signing for such a famous club as Tottenham Hotspur. I am looking forward to working with Mauricio Pochettino and the players and meeting everyone there.” Sanchez said
