Head to Head Matches
03/26/2011 Portugal 1:1 Chile
Portugal have been the European champions for a reason. And as they clashed with the spirited New Zealand, Fernando Santos’ men upheld their title deservingly.
The Group A winners are cruising into the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup despite the sluggish match rally. It was Ronaldo who broke the deadlock by dispatching an emphatic penalty past Stedan Marinovic. Bernado Silva doubled his side’s lead shortly before the break with a simple and yet accurate delivery.
At the second half, Portugal showed determination to keep their table standing as Andre Silva tucked home ten minutes before full time. And in a span of few minutes, Nani who replaced Ronaldo added fourth goal which further thrashed opponents.
Chile’s campaign against Australia seemed like a losing battle. Intially, the match was dominated by Ange Postecoglou’s men. It was James Troisi who steered Australia ahead in the dying minutes of the first half. But Chile responded through substitute Martin Ronriguez who took the encounter in a 1-1 draw, which means the South Americans are set to enter duel with Portugal in the semis.
It’s a tough call to make as both teams relatively show verve in each battle they have come through. But Portugal will pose dangerous stunts in order to progress in this match.
Portugal 2.50 (best odds here to step up the game)
