India vs. England Second Test: Cricket Betting Preview

The second test between India and England commences at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. England were the better side in the first test in Rajkot, which ended in a draw. India will be looking to exert their home supremacy once again, while England will be hoping to gain from the momentum they got from the first test.

This is going to be the first ever test at this venue. By all indications, the pitch at Vizag, as the city of Visakhapatnam is popularly called, will be a spinning monster. It is likely to take turn from the first day and it only becomes more spin-friendly as the match progresses. So make your cricket betting moves accordingly. The team batting first will have the advantage.

Preview – India

India will ring in a couple of changes. Gautam Gambhir looked out of sorts in the first test. KL Rahul, who has regained his fitness, is likely to replace him. Ishant Sharma may replace Umesh Yadav. The trickiest question Indian team management faces is about Amit Mishra. He was not at all effective in the first test. If the pitch turns out to be a tricky surface for batting, it makes sense to include a sixth batsman – Karun Nair – in the place of Mishra. But this ground is special for Mishra. He has produced some brilliant performances here, including a five-wicket haul against New Zealand in the last ODI.

India’s batting looked good in the first test. Bowling was not penetrative enough, and fielding was abject. If India bowl well and take the catches, it will be hard to stop them at this ground.  As for cricket betting, it is better to back India, especially if they win the toss.

Preview – England

James Anderson is available for selection. He is the senior most England bowler and he should get an automatic entry. Stuart Broad or Chris Woakes is likely to make way for him. England are likely to bring in Gareth Batty also into the eleven, probably at the expense of Zafar Ansari, whose left-arm off-spin looked harmless for the most part of the first test. England’s batting looked solid and does not require any changes. Still, if the pitch takes turn from the first day itself, as is expected, the England batters may not find stay at the crease as easy as in Rajkot.

A spin-friendly pitch and the return of KL Rahul will boost India’s chances. But England are a resilient side and their batting is long and deep. It will be unwise to rule them out entirely in the cricket betting calculations.
