After a grueling, non-stop, city-hopping cricketing adventure, the Indian Premier League has reached its climax. The final will be played on Sunday in Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians take on Rising Pune Supergiant in what can be called the Maharashtra derby, as both the teams hail from the same Indian state of Maharashtra.
For Mumbai this will be a grudge match too. Three times these teams have met in this year’s IPL, in three different venues. Pune Supergiant won all three. For Mumbai, not just the IPL crown, but also the bragging rights for years to come are at stakes.
This could seem easy for punting. If it is Mumbai vs Pune, Pune is going to be, as in the last three times. However, in finals, Mumbai Indians are a different beast. Tread carefully on the slippery rocks of betting odds.
Mumbai Indians – Preview
Man for man, Mumbai Indians are far better than Supergiant. From 1 to 11, they have established players. It will be really hard to post a big total against their multi-faceted and sharp bowling attack. They field like panthers. If they have any weakness, that lies in their batting. Despite the presence of proven IPL match winners like Rohit Sharma, Keiron Pollard, Lendl Simmons, Ambatu Rayudu and Parthiv Patel, their batting can froze in the face of quick wickets. The opposite is true as well: if they gain their six-hitting momentum, it will be game over for the opposition. The game will be decided by the battle between Mumbai’s batsmen and Pune’s bowlers.
Rising Pune Supergiant – Preview
If Mumbai is a well-oiled collective, Pune Supergiant thrive on the individual brilliance. The team boasts of stalwarts like MS Dhoni, Steven Smith and Ajinkya Rahane. They also have some rising stars like Jaideve Unadkat, Washington Sundar and Rahul Thripathi. All these players can change the course of the match in a few overs. Plus, Supergiant know the secret recipe of how to beat Mumbai Indians.
Our Prediction: On all the previous occasions in the IPL, Mumbai Indians were the odds-on favourites against Pune Supergiants. But this time, thanks to Supergiant’s winning run, the teams appear equals. Still, we keep on backing Mumbai Indians. Check the match odds @ 12BET Mumbai Indians should lift the IPL trophy.
