Sunday will see two fixtures in the IPL 2017:
- Gujarat Lions vs Kings XI Punjab
- Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
Except for KKR, all these other teams are trying to get out from the bottom half of the points table. In fact they are desperate for a win. If the last few days’ games are any indication, the fatigue of non-stop playing seems to have caught up with teams. This is where teams with good bench strength can excel. The cricket betting calculations need to take such factors into calculation as well. More about it in the following previews.
Gujarat Lions vs Kings XI Punjab
Gujarat Lions won close contest against the mighty KKR in their previous match. It was held yesterday. They have only one day to recoup from that energy-draining outing. They will probably lack in energy, but there will be renewed enthusiasm following the win. This is one of the rare times when the team batted well collectively. They have unearthed a quality death over bowler in Basil Thampy, who must be now ranked just behind Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah in terms of the consistency of bowling yorkers. The inclusion of James Faulkner could make the team stronger further.
Kings XI Punjab have the batting power. When Glen Maxwell, Hashim Amla and David Miller find form, there is no stopping them. But their bowling is pathetic. With their bowling, no score is safe. It has been established the other night, when Mumbai Indians chased a score of 198 in the 15th over against them. They will be still nursing the psychological tremors of that attack. It is hard to come back immediately from such a mauling.
Prediction for cricket betting: Both the teams are still looking to find their right combination. However, the momentum is with Gujarat Lions now (check odds). They are going to win this match.
Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
This is going to be a high octane clash. KKR are playing their second match in three days. The travel and rigors of non-stop playing are going to take the toll on the players. They do have the bench strength to find possible replacements for any position. But they are likely to stick on to the combination that has done well. Gautam Gambhr, Robin Uthappa and Maneesh Pandey will not face much problem against the RCB bowlers. Apart from Samuel Badree, there is not a single threatening enough bowler in the RCB ranks.
However, Kolkata bowlers may face the wrath of RCB’s batting power. This could be the day that Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers come good collectively. All of them have hit form, albeit in different matches. RCB are desperate for a win to keep their playoffs hopes alive. For players like Kohli and de Villiers desperation brings the best out of them.
