There are two matches in the IPL on Saturday:
- Rising Pune Supergiant vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
- Gujarat Lions vs Mumbai Indians
Bowlers are becoming increasingly confident as the tournament progresses. Batting first and posting a big total is no longer an easy option. Teams with better bowling are going to win matches from now on. Keep this in mind when you analyze the cricket betting odds. Now on to the match previews.
Rising Pune Supergiant vs Royal Challengers Bangalore – Preview
RCB are practically out of the tournament. They may still have a mathematical possibility to qualify for the next stage. Even to keep those extremely thin chances alive, they need to win all the remaining matches. Their star-studded batting has been astonishingly poor in this tournament. Unless they get it right, another drubbing is on the cards. Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle failed once again and AB de Villiers got run out in the last match. Can they fire against Supergiant?
The Pune side seems to have found the right bowling combination. Imran Tahir, Ben Stokes, Washington Sundar and Jaydev Unadkat are bowling reasonably well. Whenever they get their batting right, they tend to win matches. The onus is on Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith and MS Dhoni. With eight points from as many matches, they are fourth in the points table. A win against the struggling RCB will make their position much more comfortable.
Gujarat Lions have kept their play-offs hopes alive with a dominant win against RCB the other day. But they need to keep on winning. They are facing a big obstacle on this Saturday in the form of Mumbai Indians. The Lions have finally found the right combination, especially the right foreign players. Brendon McCullum, Aaron Finch, Andrew Tye and James Faulkner are the best combination they have. If they can draft in Irfan Pathan and Dhawal Kulkarni as well, they can be a real good team.
Mumbai Indians do not have any problems with the team combination. They suffered a setback against Pune Supergiant last week. They got the luxury of four days’ rest since then. They are likely to bring Lasith Malinga back for Mitchell Johnson. Krunal Pandey is likely to come back to the team. Mumbai Indians are sitting pretty in the points table. A win against Gujarat Lions will take them closer to play-offs.
