Mumbai Indians take on Rising Pune Supergiant in the first playoffs of the Indian Premier League 2017. The winner will march to the finals, while the loser will get one more chance in the final playoffs match. Pune Supergiant have won both their league matches against Mumbai Indians – in fact, they are the only side that defeated Mumbai Indians in both the fixtures. So, will they win for a third time? That is the million dollar question in Cricket betting.
Mumbai Indians – Preview
Mumbai Indians have all their first-choice players available. Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh, Parthiv Patel and Jasprit Bumrah are well-rested. Keiron Pollard and Hardik Pandya are in fine form. Rohit Sharma has shown glimpses of match-turning potential and talent. The only question in front of the team management will be to choose between Nitish Rana and Ambati Rayudu. While Rana could not sustain his prolific early form, Rayudu played a brilliant innings under pressure in the Mumbai Indians’ final league game. They could go for Rayudu’s experience.
For punting online, it is always better to back Mumbai Indians in such situations. Teams that bat second will have an advantage at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai, especially when the main pitch of the stadium is used. Boundaries are shorter. No score is safe.
Rising Pune Supergiant
The big news is that Ben Stokes will not be available. He has left for international duty. That means the Pune side will be without two of their two most influential players of this season: Stokes and Imran Tahir. Steven Smith and company will have to find stars from their less known players to counter the all-round might of Mumbai Indians. A special innings or two from Smith or MS Dhoni will help. Supergiant have some terrific Indian players on their ranks, such as Rahul Tripathi, Manoj Tiwary, Washington Sundar, and Jaydev Unadkat. Unadkat will be looking to provide a good start to the team, especially against Mumbai opener Lendl Simmons who has a well-documented weakness against left-arm pace.
The team will surely miss Stokes in batting, bowling and fielding. Special efforts are needed from the rest of the squad to overcome this. They will be motivated by their head to head record against Mumbai Indians – three wins for four matches. But that alone will not enough to counter the rampaging Mumbai Indians.
