Maria Sharapova is Set to Miss Rio Olympics 2016

Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova will be out on Rio 2016, as her drug ban accusation continues.

July 18 will be the final deadline for teams to finalize their list player in this most awaited tournament.

The International Tennis Federation will need a long time to process Sharapova’s appeal, which will create a conflict on the international star career. September 19 will be the estimated day that they will create their final verdict which only means that there will be no Sharapova on the Olympics this season. Another devastating fact is that a week after the final grand slam, US Open will start and she might miss it out as well.

Sharapova got a positive result for meldonium in January, and such behavior can never be tolerated. ITF decided to give her a two year ban which her side tries to appeal. She argued that she’s using it under medical advice and didn’t realize that the medicine that she’s taking was on the banned list on January 1, 2016. The panel didn’t accept the explanation and still continue their final verdict towards the athlete.

Sharapova’s absence in the competition will create a direct impact on tennis. Some are disappointed with the scandal that one of the best female tennis player in the world needs to suffer into.

Meanwhile, Russian sports establishment continue their support to the player.
