Mateo Kovacic claimed that his former Inter Milan team mate Mauro Icardi could be a great help to Real Madrid squad.
“I am not the one to ask about signings,” Kovacic told a news conference before Madrid’s Champions League game with Borussia Dortmund. “[But] I played two and a half years with Mauro. He is a very good player who scores many goals, and is having a great season. He could help us a lot.”
With the Zinedine Zidane’s team currently in the fourth spot of domestic league, Real has been under constant pressure especially that there are speculations whether or not the squad has gotten weaker after the exit of James Rodriguez, Alvaro Morata, and Pepe.
The three former key players in Real Madrid were replaced by youngsters Dani Ceballos, Borja Mayoral, and Jesus Vallejo.
When asked if the Madrid lacks depth, Kovacic was quick to negate and said that the club has the best squad in Europe.
But he also noted, “We have played good games, and bad ones, which is normal. We must keep working hard, and be ready. In the end we will see how the season ends.”
