Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe, 1st ODI
Date: 25th December 2015
Series Info: Five Match ODI Series
We haven’t seen much of Team Afghanistan at the International stage. While unfortunately the country has been in midst of war and other turbulent phases but that hasn’t affected the spirits of the players. Expect some fireworks from Team Afghanistan.
Zimbabwe on the other hand, would take this series very seriously as they need to clock some wins in their International calendar. What else would be better than taking the inexperienced Afghanistan team for a ride?
For them they have nothing to lose. They are still new at this level and this makes them free from pressures. Captain Asghar Stanikzai has lots of thinking work to do. Nawaz Khan is expected to make his debut in this series.
Sean William’s groin injury is a big blow to the Zimbabwean side. One of his team’s star payer, Williams is suffering from bursitis in his left groin. Tendai Chisoro will replace him in the ODI’s while Wellington Masakadza will replace him in the T20i’s. The Zimbabwe team looks all fit and will bank a lot on its experience players.
Even in the contest between two ‘minnows’, this one would not be that tricky. Afghanistan are a good side and are showing lots of improvements, but admit it, they are way too short of experience at the highest level. And this is what makes Zimbabwe’s task much easier.
