The City of Oakland is throwing a big celebration that will include a parade and rally for the 2017 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors.
More than a million people are expected to join and celebrate with the Warriors that will take place on Thursday morning in downtown Oakland.
According to the Warriors website, the same route will be followed when the Golden State acknowledged their 2015 NBA title.
“The parade will begin on Broadway at 11th Street, turning right on Grand Avenue, turning right on Harrison to 19th St, and right on Lakeside Drive, ending on Oak and proceeding to the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center.”
The anticipated parade will start 10 a.m. Pacific Time at Broadways and 11th street with the rally planned for 12:15 p.m. (PT) along Lake Merritt Blvd in front of the Henry J. Keiser Convention Center.
Fans can begin to line up as early as 5 a.m. (PT) at Lakeshore and 12th St. and they are encouraged to take public transportation.
There will be beverage stations around the rally site and medical assistance that can be identified with giant red balloons floating above the tents.
This event was set when Finals MVP Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and the Warriors thrashed the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 129-120 victory in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena to clinch their second championship in three years.
