Oklahoma City Thunder dominated the New York Knicks Russell Westbrook’s triple-double in their first NBA regular season at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
With the addition of All-Stars’ Paul George and Carmelo Anthony in the team, the Thunder beat the Knicks with 105-84 victory.
The reigning MVP led the way for the OKC with 21 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds to get his first triple-double of the season and 80th career. Paul George on the other end got 28 points with six rebounds while Carmelo Anthony finished with 22 points and closed his New York chapter.
“Yeah, that chapter’s closed. That chapter’s closed. No more Knicks talk.” Anthony stated
Meanwhile for the Knicks, Kristaps Porzingis had 31 points and 12 rebounds while Enes Kanter, who traded for Anthony, tallied 10 points and seven rebounds. There’s no other players scored double digits.
Anthony was impressed with what Porzingis showed to lead the Knicks after he bested his former teammate in their individual matchup.
”Just to see that he’s ready to take on that role, he looked aggressive tonight. He looked comfortable, felt comfortable tonight. I was happy to see that.” Melo said
Moving forward, the Thunder will travel to play at Utah Jazz while the Knicks will go home to host the Detroit Pistons on Sunday (GMT +8).
