The Golden State Warriors are set to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals but up to this point, it’s still uncertain if Steve Kerr will coach Game 1 on Thursday, June 1(EST) at the Oracle Arena, Oakland, California.
Kerr has missed last 10 playoff games because of complications from his back surgery two years ago. The symptoms from Cerebrospinal fluid leak returned in the first round of the playoffs in April, limiting him to coach just two games.
Warriors head coach said that he is not ready to coach yet but according to the latest reports, Kerr noted that he’s “gotten a little better” and wants to continue coaching.
The 51-year-old Kerr already predicted that he wouldn’t be ready to coach the team but he added that his return is still up in the air. Kerr also plans to fly with the team going to Cleveland for Games 3 and 4.
In the absence of Kerr, assistant coach Mike Brown took over the responsibility as acting head coach and guided the Warriors to 10 consecutive wins. Golden State is the first team to enter NBA Finals with 12-0 record.
