The first ODI match between New Zealand and Bangladesh at Christ Church brings the limited-overs flavour to the exciting Boxing Day cricket betting scene. And it is not really hard to pick the winner here. Bangladesh have never won an ODI match in New Zealand. It will be a huge upset if they do it in the very first match. The match will offer cricket’s share of on-field fireworks to the festival season.
Preview – New Zealand
New Zealand will be happy about two things. First, they are playing at home. They must feel like fish thrown back to water. Second, they are playing against Bangladesh, one of the weakest teams in the test-playing arena, especially in the conditions prevailing in New Zealand.
The hosts look well-balanced as they possess a host of all-rounders: James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, and Colin de Grandhomme. The batting, led by skipper Kane Williamson, possesses enough firepower to rattle the Bangladesh bowlers, and the bowling, led by Tim Southee and Trent Boult, looks capable of dismantling the visiting batsmen.
Preview – Bangladesh
Bangladesh had a good home-stretch in recent months. They will be eager to continue the positive streak. However, playing in New Zealand is a different ball game. Even their most ardent supporters will know in the back of their mind that their team does not have much chance. This is indeed a chance for the team to prove their detractors wrong. They have some experienced players and exciting new talents. Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe Mortaza belong to the former category, while batsman Soumya Sarkar, deceptive pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman and spinner Mehedi Hasan belong to the latter category.
As a fan, neutrals must support Bangladesh. But as players in the cricket betting scene, it is not wise supporting the tigers.
