New Zealand vs. Pakistan First Test: Cricket Betting Preview

The threat of earthquakes is looming over the first test between New Zealand and Pakistan, scheduled at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, tomorrow. A massive earthquake that recorded 7.5 in the Richter scale rocked the city two days ago. Even though mild after-tremors were felt during the past two days, the test match is likely to go ahead as planned. So, go ahead with cricket betting. The match is on.

New Zealand, just like their neighbours Australia, are going through a lean patch at the moment. They lost all the three tests in India. They will be happy to play at home again. But the sight of Pakistan as the rival may not gladden their hearts. Pakistan are in excellent form, having won seven of their last eleven games, despite playing each of these matches away from home. On present form, Pakistan must be the favourites for cricket betting.

Preview – New Zealand

Martin Guptill is the most high-profile casualty of the disastrous Indian tour. Tom Latham and Kane Williamson are in reasonably good form, while Ross Taylor is struggling. Young opener Jeet Raval is likely to make his debut. Mitchel Santner will miss out due to a wrist fracture.

New Zealand do have a good bowling attack for these conditions. Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Neil Wagner will relish these conditions. If the New Zealand batsmen post a decent total agaissnt Pakistan’s excellent bowling attack, the bowlers will be able to do the job.

History does not suggest any advantage for New Zealand. In the last 10 matches against Pakistan, they lost four and won just two. Both those wins came at home.

Preview – Pakistan

Pakistan have the right bowling combination for these conditions. Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir can exploit the conditions in New Zealand. And Yasir Shah’s leg spin will come into play in the second half of the test match. The key point for Pakistan, and for cricket betting in favour of them, will be their batsmen’s ability to handle New Zealand bowlers. They are without much practice, as their only practice game was abandoned due to earthquake.

This is going to be a battle between bowlers of both sides. Whoever bowl well will win the match. Whom do you fancy for cricket betting – Southee and company or Amir and company?
