An underwhelming Delhi Capitals will face a Sunrisers side that is on the back of a slight dip in form themselves. With the Capitals just about dangling on with their faint hopes of qualification, the Sunrisers have matters in their own hands and would like to keep it that way, ensuring that they do not slip to their poor selves which were evident at the start of the season. Cricket predictions for this match will be quite tough, with both teams desperate for a win.
While both sides will be needing the victory under their belts to strengthen their cause, the Capitals desperately need the win today, due to their inferior NRR as well as their single-digit points tally. This could end up becoming a great IPL match for the fans in the process.
The Capitals do not have any room for error from now on and will have to make the most of these remaining 5 fixtures, while the Sunrisers need to make sure that they do not slip up even further after a season of improvement.
The Capitals have seemed to have lost the plot, with the team unable to arrest their slide and it has resulted in their season just one step away from total freefall. Even in their last game against the Lucknow Super Giants, they started the chase very well but fell short in the key moments that they are normally expected to be dominant in, and ended up falling just one hit short of victory.
This has been a recurring theme of their season, with them not able to make these key moments count, and hence their poor performances and their low standing on the table. The emergence of Rovman Powell has been a welcome addition, with Rishabh Pant also finding some rhythm, this should be the shot in the arm that they need in the key part of this season.
The Orange Army bandwagon has been well and truly put to a stop after two straight losses. While the loss against the Titans was rather unfortunate, the loss against Chennai was a result of poor performances with both bat and ball. The bowlers could not stop the flow of runs, while the batsmen could not take advantage of the good platform provided by the openers in the power play and perished after trying to play one shot too many.
The Sunrisers will have to iron out the deficiencies and will have to play the way they played in that winning run of theirs. They have matters in their own hands and would like to keep it that way.
Sunrisers hold a slight edge in the head-to-head between the sides, winning 11 out of the 20 games between the two sides.
While the last game saw the Capitals have some of their key players return to form, it will be very difficult to look past the Sunrisers to be the favourites in this game.
