A desperate KKR will be itching to get a victory after 4 straight losses, while the Gujarat Titans will be looking to consolidate their hold on the top spot when these two teams collide. The game also sees former Knight Shubman Gill take on his former team after he was released last season, spending 4 years with them. KKR. The franchise made it to the final of the IPL 2021 tournament and lost to current champs CSK.
He will look to bounce back hard to stop the rut, while the Titans will be hoping to continue the same way that propelled them to the top of the table. It will surely be a feisty encounter between two sides boasting quality on all fronts, only the matter of how to use it. Both teams will try to play some good live cricket. Let’s see which team comes out on top.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The Knights are in genuine danger of letting their season slip away after seeing a strong start fritter away on the back of 4 straight losses. They only have themselves to blame in their loss against the Royals in a game in which they were in control for the majority of the run chase, but shot themselves in the foot courtesy of some really poor decisions in the back-end of the innings, and that has seen them plummet all the way to 7th in the points table.
The knights have to ensure that they make that advantage count in such situations. It is these moments where the knights have to perform better in because these are match-defining moments. Shreyas has been brilliant, while the arrival of Finch has bought stability to the opening. The Knights have to just be better in key situations.
The Titans have been on a roll. They are showing no signs of first-time jitters, seating away each and every opponent with class, grace, and sometimes brutal power-hitting. The latter was on full show again as they blitzed the Chennai Suoer Kings on their way to victory.
David Miller rolled back the years with his smashing strokeplay, while Rashid put the long handle to devastating effect as they steamrolled the Super Kings in the last overs. They are such a well-balanced unit in all departments, added to it the excellent leadership skills of Hardik Pandya, and you have the makings of a formidable unit on the verge of making the playoffs at the first time of asking.
This is the first-ever meeting between the two sides in the IPL.
With Gujarat going great guns, and KKR in an absolutely wretched run of form, the Titans will be heavily fancied to get a result over the boys from Kolkata. But with the power possessed by the Knights, don’t write them off just yet.
