The Lucknow Super Giants face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator, with the loser going straight back home. No second chances, no do-overs. It is a straight winner takes all. The cricket exchange will find it difficult to predict a winner, in a game that will be expected to be really close.
Both teams are well aware of the quality that the other possesses. They will want to play good cricket and will be eager to assert their dominance early in the game. Will Lucknow keep their juggernaut rolling, or will the royal Challengers make good on the chance that they have been given to qualify for the playoffs?. We will find out soon enough.
Lucknow Super Giants
The Super Giants approach this game with a bittersweet feeling. They will be happy about the fact that they made the playoffs on the first time of asking, but will be pretty annoyed with themselves about the fact that they are only to blame for letting the second spot slip away from their grasp after some pretty ordinary cricket in the last few weeks of the season.
They enter the eliminator on the back of a thrilling 2-run win against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where the batting was absolutely sublime. Quinton and Rahul were peerless in their time in the middle and they will know that they hold the key to this side’s fortune in the game.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Royal Challengers will be thanking Mumbai for their favour but know that it is all them from here on. They ended their league stage by putting in arguably their most complete performance of the season. Virat Kohli finally looked like himself in a virtuoso performance, while the bowlers put on an absolutely monumental effort as well.
Against the Super Giants, they will need to put in the same effort with both bat and ball, if they have to go ahead in the competition. They have all the skills, they even got the slice of luck that all teams require. Now, will they be able to go all the way? That is the million-dollar question
The last time these two sides met, the Royal Challengers emerged victorious, winning by 18 runs.
While Lucknow was a shade more consistent in the league, Bangalore come into this clash with their confidence and self-belief at an all-time high after the events of the past few days. So this can go a long way in taking the team far. Expect the Royal Challengers to be favourites in this game.
