Another winless team will be desperately hoping to get their season on track as quickly as possible when the winless Mumbai Indians will be squaring off against the Punjab Kings in what is becoming a nightmare season for the 5-time champions. The Punjab Kings, on the other hand, will be hoping to get over the heart-breaking loss they suffered in their last game and get back to winning ways as quickly as possible so that they are as close to the chasing pack as they can be. Betting in India will favour the team from Punjab for sure.
This game also pits Rahul Chahar and Murugan Ashwin against their former teams. So, this promises to be an extremely tasty encounter between the two sides. If there are runs put up on the board, it will surely be a great IPL match.
Along with the Chennai Super Kings, the Mumbai Indians are the other team that has yet to register its first win in the tournament. The batting is in shambles, the bowling has been downright horrendous and Rohit Sharma has suddenly lost his touch with the bat as well, a string of poor performances undermining his obvious ability with the bat. They will have to drastically improve the performance of all the departments because if they don’t improve immediately, their season will be as good as over.
The Punjab Kings have been yo-yo in terms of form as well as results. They have won convincingly and lost very close games. The last game was a game where they had the game in their hands but yet ended up taking defeat from the jaws of victory, with Tewatia once again becoming their kryptonite. But all-in-all, Punjab has been very consistent with the bat and has been very efficient in putting up big scores and giving their bowlers something to defend on every occasion. The form of Liam Livingstone has been a massive boost for the Kings, with his assaults in the middle overs giving the rest a springboard to free their arms a bit more openly. However, they will have to put the agony of their last defeat behind them and get back quickly to winning ways.
One of the closest head-to-head battles between the two sides, Mumbai just edges Punjab 14-13 in the 27 games played between the two.
Poor form, poor morale, and low confidence. Mumbai are suffering from all three at the same time, at the same time being stuck in a rut as well. So expect Punjab to be the favorites in this fixture
