A resurgent Sunrisers Hyderabad takes on the wounded Knight Riders in a match that sees former KKR batsman Rahul Tripathi lock horns against his former employers. The Sunrisers have finally found a formula for them that works, leading them to 2 successive victories for the first time in quite a while. They have finally regained some form after an abysmal IPL 2021 tournament.
The Knights, meanwhile, will have to put their disappointing result of the past match behind them and look to quickly get back to winning ways. They will want to start performing better with the cricket bat, as they look to win more games.
The Sunrisers are slowly starting to get into top gear. After soundly beating the Chennai Super Kings to register their first win in the tournament, they went one step further by beating the unbeaten Gujarat Titans and beating them convincingly. The Orange army has clearly found a formula that works for them and that has been evident in the upturn of their performances in the last 3 games. If they keep on playing this way, they can be a thorn in almost everyone’s side.
Kolkata Knight Riders
The Knights have been reeling. After a good run that saw them climb the top of the table, they have started to struggle a bit, and that was evident in their heavy loss against the Delhi Capitals, where barring Shreyas and Rana, none of them managed to put up even a semblance of a fight with the bat. The bowling also was guilty of giving away too many runs to a team that found runs hard to get by. Brendon McCullum has a lot of work to do in the boardroom if they have to improve after such a poor showing. There are questions on the availability of Venkatesh Iyer as well, who was playing through an injury.
Kolkata has a comfortable advantage over the Orange army, winning 14 out of the 21 played between the two sides. Sunrisers won the other 7
With Kolkata reeling a bit and Sunrisers approaching this game somewhere close to their best, expect the Orange Army to win this one.
