Lionel Messi’s leadership helped Barcelona to take the number one spot in the Spanish La Liga table as they beat Eibar in 6-1 home encounter.
The Argentine footballer opened score from the penalty spot 20 minutes after the game kicked off in order to put his team in front. He nearly doubled Barca’s advantage when he left-footed a forceful shot. But goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic had to dive and save the goal.
Paulinho then rose high to reach for Denis Suarez’s corner kick and headed in past the Gunsmiths’ keeper. This marked Barcelona’s second goal.
Suarez also contributed to Barca’s win by slotting home from a close range, but the side of José Luis Mendilibar responded through Sergi Enrich who tucked home with a strong finishing.
However, Messi restored their three-goal lead by converting a penalty. He seems to be enjoying the riot as he powered two more successful goals, wrapping up the game to a 6-1 victory for his side.
With the win, it looks like Barcelona will take the trip to Girona in high spirits as they aim for another success in their next battle (check out the most best betting odds of the coming duel).
