Timberwolves beat Warriors in NBA preseason, 111-97



Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Golden State Warriors to take a 111-97 win in their first preseason encounter at Shenzhen Universiade Center in China.

Thanks to Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler who scored each 16 points, and combined for 13 rebounds and seven assists.

In addition, Andrew Wiggins made 14 points against the Warriors while Taj Gibson had 13. In fact, three more Timberwolves player scored in double figures off the bench which are Nemanja Bejelica, Shabazz Muhammad and Tyus Jones.

Meanwhile coach Steve Kerr decided to bench his first five players late in the third period that cost the loss after coach Tom Thibodeau’s reserves took the lead for good, making 32 points in the fourth quarter out of 12 by the Warriors.

Kevin Durant led all scorers with 20 points in 8-of-13 field goals. However, the defending NBA champions already lost their first two preseason game despite Stephen Curry’s 14 points, six rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes and Klay Thompson’s 13 markers.

Moving forward, both teams will continue their tour in China this week and will have a rematch on October 8 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.
